Fall Semester - Tuesday evening classes
taught by Rabbi Albert Thaler

Insights of Conservative Judaism

Conservative Judaism defies simple and popularly held definitions which derive basically from the widely disparate forms of Synagogue worship in our movement.  One should rather seek definition in Conservative Judaism's understanding of revelation, the nature and evolution of Jewish law, the way we read and understand the Bible and the role of gender in Jewish life.  It is the openness with which we approach these and other subjects that best define our movement.  The course will use as text material the essays which appear in our congregation's Humash, Etz Hayim.
