Living a Life of Mitzvot

Yesterday and Today

The word Mitzvah means commandment.  In more traditional segments of the community, Jewish life is structured on an understanding of the word mitzvah to be a commandment.  Both the ceremonial and ethical mitzvot are observed literally as a manual for life as commanded by God.

How about us?  Do we feel commanded?  If Judaism is articulated by mitzvot, how can or should liberal Jews relate to the concept of commandment?

Text study and discussion.

The texts will be studied in English translation.
